One of the most exciting aspect of any new Modular is the way that the LEGO design team packs it full of rare colors and interesting parts (though not all Modulars feature brand new parts). As with nearly all Modulars, there is no sticker sheet. It includes a brief intro featuring LEGO Designer Chris McVeigh, followed quickly by the instructions themselves. We keep harping about this issue because it detracts from the “premium” experience of a $200 LEGO set while creating a negative first impression for new collectors - neither of which is positive in light of the new branding that LEGO themselves have emphasized so heavily.Īs with all sets of this size, the instruction booklet ships in its own sleeve. Unfortunately, that solution seems to have been a one-off, as this set returns us to a totally random assortment of bags within the inner box. We noted in our review of 71374 Nintendo Entertainment System that LEGO had apparently, finally solved the longstanding issue that forces builders to sort all the bags before beginning the build process, by including the first few bags in the inner box. Although the packaging is consistent with recent adult-focused sets like 75290 Mos Eisley Cantina and 10276 Colosseum, LEGO is apparently introducing new branding after all, with “Modular Buildings Collection” appearing above the name of the set. In my opinion, this set is great for the series Creator Expert. In addition, the big carmine is characteristic of this set. Moreover this set includes 3 minifigures and a lot more of small details. On the first storey the forge can be seen and on the second is the living area.įrom the outside, the Medieval Blacksmith is surrounded by many plants, animals and a large tree. You can explore two different storeys, which you can see by a lift-off technique. Of course, there is also an interior in this model. A harmonious color scheme was important as well, but one of the biggest challenges was the roof, because there are many different angles and special techniques. Also, I've varied a lot with the colors to give the Blacksmith the best possible expression. I put a special focus on many small details and the design.
